What is the best method for installing the bamboo flooring?
To maximize the beauty
and wear of your floor, we suggest the following:
a. Vacuum or sweep floor regularly. If you do sweep,
we recommend nylon brooms, as straw brooms tend to be
too tough on some floor finishes.
b. Do not let sand, dirt or grit build up. Remove spills
promptly.
c. Place mats at exterior doors to trap sand and grit
from incoming traffic. Use area rugs on high traffic
pathways.
d. Install "wood guards" on "feet"
of furniture. When moving heavy furniture or appliances,
always pick up the furniture rather than sliding it
across the floor.
e. Keep pets¡¯claws properly trimmed to avoid excess
scratches and gouges.
f. Avoid walking in high heels.
g. Do not use wax, oil soap or other household cleaners
on your floor. The use of these products can dull todays¡¯s
finishes and make refinishing difficult.
2. Can your products be used with radiant
heat floors?
Due to the inherent
dimensional stability, our products are an ideal application
over radiant heat. Installation should provide for the
addition of a "floating" underlying system.
This is not attached to the radiant substrate (usually
lightweight concrete), but allowed to "float"
over it with a one-half inch gap around the perimeter.
3. What products are recommended for use
in finishing the flooring?
We suggest using
a water-based, polyurethane wood floor finish, such
as BonaKemi Traffic or Basic Coatings Street Shoe, which
are specifically formulated for heavy-traffic commercial
and residential hardwood floors.
